Ra煤l C谩rdenas Osuna is the founder of Torolab (Tijuana, Mexico), an artist collective, workshop and laboratory of contextual studies that identifies situations or phenomena of interest for research, basing the studies in the realm of lifestyles to better grasp the idea of quality of life. Their work has been shown at MoMA, New York City; Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; MCA Australia; Havana, Liverpool, Lyon, and Venice Biennials; and has received awards by the Rockefeller Foundation and Harvard鈥檚 Cultural Agents Initiative, among others. In 2011, C谩rdenas Osuna founded and directed the Digital and Creative axis for the Metropolitan Strategic Plan of Tijuana-Rosarito-Tecate; and was named Person of the Year by Tijuana鈥檚 newspaper Frontera. C谩rdenas Osuna has been an advisor for Tijuana鈥檚 government on sustainable city development and social innovation. He currently directs the program of the Transborder Farmlab and the Applied Social Research and Innovation Lab (LiiSA) in Tijuana/Mexico City.

Series Theme -- Architectures  of Care: In a world riven by inequality and indifference, care-work has become essential and highly visible in its capacity to create more sustainable worlds. How can architecture support and nurture care work and the values of cooperation and commoning that go with the recognition of care as an essential form of labor? Convened by Spitzer faculty Cesare Birignani and Vyjayanthi Rao, 鈥淎rchitectures of Care鈥 explores the notion of care and the ways in which architecture might contribute to repairing built environments and social fabrics.
