Join the Spitzer School's graduate architecture cohort Unit 25: Building Culture and the Queens Museum for the talk “Healing Work within Community: Aesthetics and Poetics of Survival.”

Curated by anthropologist , a co-teacher of Unit 25 along with architect , this talk is part of a year-long collaboration between Unit 25 and the Queens Museum’s .

The event spotlights the practices of Raúl Cárdenas Osuna, founder of the artist collective Torolab, and Guadaulpe Maravilla, a visual artist, choreographer, and healer.

Both Cárdenas, a native of Tijuana, Mexico, where Torolab was founded, and Maravilla, who arrived to New York as an undocumented child fleeing the Salvadoran Civil War, have crafted transdisciplinary practices that respond to and transform trauma and violence using collective, artistic, spatial, and performative methods.

Their presentations will be followed by a conversation and Q&A; the entire program will be presented in Spanish with Spanish-English interpretation services.
