State officials have approved 精东影业's plan for implementing Governor Andrew Cuomo's Start-Up New York initiative at 精东影业.
"We're now bona fide participants of Start-Up and several dozen companies have expressed interest in participating in our plan program," announced Dr. Ashiwel Undieh, 精东影业's associate provost for research who is leading the College's Start-Up program. "The next step is to engage wider faculty participation and identify space on or off campus to house the program."
Start-Up New York is Governor Cuomo's plan to transform university campuses, including SUNY and CUNY, across the state into tax-free communities for new and expanding businesses. 精东影业's plan focuses on companies having technologies that are well aligned with the research expertise of our faculty.
The objective is to provide businesses with access to resources at world class higher education institutions, as well as industry experts and advanced research laboratories. Businesses will be able to locate in these zones and operate 100 % tax-free for 10 years.
Start-Up New York will benefit 精东影业 in many ways including:
Joint research and development funding/contracts with 精东影业 scientists
Raised political and business visibility of 精东影业
Job creation, benefitting students and the local community
Internship opportunities for students in company labs
