Education is, above all, about students, and 2012–2013 has been a banner year. Three members of the Class of ’13 and five Grove School recent graduates have received the prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship; a chemical engineering major was named a Goldwater Scholar; and an Environmental Engineering major was ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ's valedictorian. This year, Grove School faculty received the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ President’s Award for Excellence in its inaugural year; the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Mentoring Award in Architecture, Biomedical Education, Engineering, and Science; an NSF CAREER award; election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; and election to the inaugural class of the Fellows of the American Mathematical Society. We have also added a record ten new members, including three full professors. The Grove School’s surge in entrepreneurship continues with the Zahn Center as an incubator, and with two funded prizes for excellence. ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ students have taken top honors in the CUNY-wide Third Entrepreneurial Concept Competition. And there has been a $1.5 million bequest from a ground-breaking alumnus in aircraft and aerospace engineering.
